The Archaeological Dig and the Quest to Uncover the Past

Among the clues to the tavern’s location are photographs from the 1950s, showing Frank Weneger, the local hermit, pointing to the spot where the tavern once stood. In one photo, he stands next to the lilac bush, a silent sentinel marking the location of this forgotten treasure. These photos, along with oral histories and historical records, have inspired us to dig deeper—literally.

We’re planning an archaeological dig to uncover the tavern’s foundation and learn more about the lives of those who lived, worked, and gathered here. What can the stones and artifacts tell us about Captain Jabez Hall and his family?
